Cornas from two sites. 60 year-old vines on the slopes of La Cote and Sauman that are dominated by granite and sandy soils. The grapes are destemmed and vinified in open top vats for three weeks. In 2016 the Cornas was raised entirely in demi-muids of which a quarter was new. Richly complex with notes of black fruits, roasted meats, black olive, earth and violets. Full-bodied, ripe, with firm, yet forgiving tannins. Coming in at a beautifully balanced 13% alcohol, which harkens back to day of yore. Cellar time will only serve to let this wine show its true greatness.
