A blend of fruit from the southern end of the Côte de Blonde in the villages of Tupin and Semons, and fruit from the Côte de Brune vineyard of Les Roziers. The parcels are vinified and aged separately and then blended prior to bottling. The wine ages 50% in 500 liter and 50% in 228 liter barrels with about a quarter of the smaller barrels being new. The wine is wild and brambly on the nose with exceptional density and deep black fruit aromas joined by mineral and smoke accents. Violets emerge after a few minutes in the glass. There is good ripeness on this mid-weight example. Great depth. The tannins are still youthful and if you indulge in the short-term, some time in the decanter to open up will be rewarded. This is a truly thrilling Cote Rotie from an exceptional young vigneron.
