Made in essentially the same way as 2014 except there was no pumping over or pushing down of the cap during fermentation to avoid over-extraction. A good call with the riper 2015. 40 and 80 year old vines, whole cluster tank fermented and pressed in an ancient press. The wine aged 50% in tank and 50% in old oak. Lovely, translucent ruby. Pretty, crunchy red fruits waft from the glass in a complex blend of raspberry, cranberry, forest floor, a touch of spice and a vein of minerality. Medium-plus bodied, fresh, bright and energetic. If I had to guess, this wine may not have the longevity of the 2014, but it makes for great drinking right now if you’re inclined to let your ‘14s rest a few more years.
