The wine reflects layers of red fruits like cherry, currant and a touch of strawberry. There is a “crunch” to the fruit character along with an underlying density or sap that gives it its unique alpine feel. In the glass, it’s brick orange at the rim and pale ruby in the center. Medium-bodied but with complex notes of black tea, herbs, cigar box, and spices. Boffalora's "Pietrisco" was aged predominantly in one used, 23-hectoliter barrel for over a year, in tank for six months and another six months in bottle before release. Enjoyable now with a brief spell in the decanter.
