This wine proves why there has never been a more exciting time to love the wines of Valtellina. The 2015 Umo Rosso di Valtellina is effortless, but with a level of complexity, albeit subtle, that is sometimes missing at this level. The nose is filled with wild roses, oregano and raspberry jam. The palate leads with licorice, red rock minerality and finishes with leather and alpine-infused freshness. Almost one year in old barrique before being bottled. At $22 per bottle, this is a steal!
