The '17 Sette is old vine, structured, powerful, intense and certainly ageable Barbera. From a small, one-hectare parcel in Nizza of limestone, silt and chalk. Hard to pass up now for sure, but in no danger of losing anything other than youthful exuberance over the next five to 10 years. It has classic minerality along with floral and savory notes that complement the darker red fruits, tobacco, smoke, licorice and spices. Great energy and drive. A true bargain for the price. 40 days on the skins, nine months in stainless steel and three months in bottle before release.
