Yellow with hints of green. A blend of fruit from several different vineyards makes up Alphart’s “entry level” Rotgipfler. A fresh, tropical fruit, mandarin orange, almond and herbal core overlays a structure of mouthwatering acidity and focused minerality. Fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel tank, there is an energy in this wine that supports the ripe fruit and savory notes. This wine is a dry version of Rotgipfler but the ripeness and tropical characteristics provide richness and texture to the wine. It’s drinking really well at the moment and should hold nicely for the next three to five years. A nice accompaniment to aged cheeses, Asian food, richer seafood entrees and poultry.
