A deep ruby red the wine blasts from the glass with scents of raspberry, cherry, dried herbs and roses. Over a year in oak and six months in bottle have worked to harmonize and balance the superb raw material. In the mouth the wine shows complex notes of orange peel, leather and a chalky note. A decant will certainly help it open up if you drink it in the nearer term, and it's drinking well right now with some air. But time will undoubtedly be kind to this wine and allow it to develop additional complexity and nobility. It should still be drinking well on its 10th birthday. It paired exceptionally well with grilled sausages and bresaola at lunch with Giuseppe and his family (and Siro Buzzetti and Alfio Mozzi), but any grilled meat should be a worthy foil.
