Amandi is breathtakingly beautiful and back-breakingly difficult to work. Only through dedication are we graced with wines of place, pedigree and passion like those from José Manuel Rodriguez. In addition to making wine, José Manuel is ambassador for the region (the Denomination of Origin in Spain) in his role as head of the Ribeira Sacra Regulatory Council. Despite his commanding presence and influence, he works very little land and makes only a tiny amount of wine. On average his 2.5 hectares of vineyards are 40+ years old and are on classic slate soils.   Mencía makes up the bulk of what José Manuel grows on his property.
