While I consider Matt and Amy very good friends, and they have been beyond generous to BWS with their time, connections, and home in the south of France, they are also supremely skilled in the vineyards and the cellar, turning out wines of balance, precision and authenticity. And speaking of the cellar, they have a brand new space in the village of Vers Pont du Gard that gives them not only room to turn around without bumping into each other, but a space adjacent to the cellar that has become a tasting room. It’s a great project and one you must check out if you find yourself in the neighborhood.
They embarked on this crazy two--person adventure in 2005. They farm just over six hectares of vineyards. And when they talk about doing things by hand (planting, pruning, harvesting . . .) with the help of friends and family, I can personally attest that it’s not just romantic wine marketing speak. I spent a week helping (or getting in the way, depending on your perspective) during the 2013 harvest and the respect and admiration I already had for the true artisan winemaker was taken to an entirely new level. La Gramière makes around 8000 - 10,000 bottles a year of Grenache-based organically farmed wine. We are thrilled to have the pleasure to work with their wines and we know you won’t be disappointed.
