Newman Monthelie Beaune, 2013

Variety:  Pinot Noir

Always a highlight in the Domaine Newman world, especially given its great value. The fruit is from 50-year-old vines in Les Riveaux and about 15 years younger in Les Fourneaux. On the day I tasted this striking wine it was open and seductive. Aromas and flavors of red raspberry, tea, and baking spices. It was drinking just beautifully this early in its evolution. I think this would be an ideal complement to the holiday table, whether it is Thanksgiving 2015 or 2020.
