100% Merlot that has lovely depth and complexity. Plum, spice, sage and leather aromas and flavors waft from the glass and unfold on the palate and are joined by fine, rich tannins and lithe acidity. This combination of sensations and flavors results in a wine of power but yet never goes too far. It remains subtle and focused only gaining in intensity as it airs. This is a superb Merlot from anywhere and a great effort from Ronc di Vico. This wine is fermented in large oak vats and then ages in oak barrel (with a small percentage of new oak each vintage). In 2012 the Titut Ros spent about 18 months in barrel. Only around 1000 bottles are made in each vintage. This wine has great potential to develop in the cellar and should still be going strong 12 to 15 years down the road. However this wine is intriguing and refined enough to drink now with a short time in the decanter.
The medium tannins and bright acidity on the Titut Ros give it versatility on the table. It will certainly work well with all of the things you’d associate pairing a Cabernet, Merlot or blend with, but think about venturing further afield in this case and pairing it with pork, roast chicken, and even darker fishes such as salmon or tuna, especially if you’re grilling them.
