Variety(ies): Sauvignon Blanc
In 2013 the Ronchi Rò Sauvignon Blanc was harvested in late September. Fermented with only indigenous yeast and then aged 20% in large oak tonneau and 80% in stainless steel. The wine is a brilliant yellow with hints of green and exhibits a nose of tropical fruit, like mango, elderflower, mineral notes and a slight herbal character. The flavors make an appearance on the palate and are nicely balanced by crisp acidity giving texture and elegance to the wine. I tasted this alongside the 2011 version which had taken on some secondary aromas lending further complexity to the wine. This should drink exceptionally well over the next four to six years. Try this as an aperitif with goat’s or triple cream cheeses, with a green salad with grilled chicken and fresh tomatoes or pair it alongside more delicate white fish or seafood pasta. Watch it work its magic on the table.
