Variety(ies): Pinot Noir
Aux Allots is Axelle's oldest vineyard with 50 and 80-year-old vines, and the only ones she has that sit on the Vosne Romanee side of Nuits St. Georges. Here the soil is deep and more clay than her other NSG sites. There is also a healthy amount of iron in the soil that shows up as marble to golf ball sized stones (you can get a feel from the photo on the Producer Page). This is a very complete wine with a darker hue than Axelle's other 2013s. On the nose there is bright cherry, iron, flowers and a hint of spice. The aromatics are lifted and very pretty. On the palate, a cassis flavor joins in and the texture feels a tad less fine than the Hauts Pruliers today, but that is really nit-picking. Wonderful purity and intensity here. Mostly old oak. 100% destemmed. 100% organic.
