This is a great everyday drinker. From a south facing, 1.6 hectare plot at 450m known as "Colline de Vergey" in the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits. The vines are over 40 years old. This perfect combination of altitude, orientation and mature vines works together to produce beautifully ripe Aligoté that holds onto the minerality from the clay/limestone soil and crisp texture and acidity that keeps this bottling fine and full of nerve. Fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel to maintain the pleasant and subtle lemon and tangerine fruit notes that sit alongside a hint of rich, creaminess, making this the total experience at a great price. I love this wine for what it delivers and what it is about. I deeply admire Axelle Machard de Gramont for continuing to work with a variety like Aligoté that doesn't get the love it deserves, especially when it's this well made. Maybe I just love an underdog. Drink it to your heart's content now and over the next two to three. 100% certified organic.
