Like our other two Albariño producers, Lagar O Parral is a member of the small, artisan producer association, Asocianción de Bodegas Artesanas Rias Baixas and calls the Val do Salnés home. We quickly came to appreciate why membership in this group was so small. The quality bar necessary to get over for admission is quite high. The 2014 is an outstanding example and is ready for drinking. Here again we get to experience the pleasure of old-vine, lees aged, classically styled Albariño. A gorgeous nose offers up pear, tropical fruit, sea spray, eucalyptus and a wisp of orange zest. Medium bodied, crisp and energetic, with great focus and bright acidity. A great wine, in a great place.
